Help us stock up for new libraries in 2027!
We use supplies for:
Teacher Training (expo markers, white board erasers)
Book Inventory (tape, labels, markers, folders)
Our Inauguration Fair (balloons, chalk, craft materials)
Our libraries (cushions, poster tape, books)
...and so much more!
We try to source as much as we can locally, but there are some resources we need that can only be found in the U.S. These supplies are some of the small but critical pieces of keeping up our libraries, inauguration fairs, and book collections!
We need 6,000 sets of colored pencils, one for each kid we will serve!
Pro tip: 12-packs of colored pencils are on sale now for as low as 50¢ at Walmart and Target! Buy them anywhere, and send them to our U.S. office!

Help us support local Honduran artisans
We source our bookshelves locally from 3 artisans: a carpenter for the boxes and triangle frames, a seamstress for the cloth book holders and covers, and a metal worker for the rods. Here you can see Don Elvis, the carpenter we’ve worked with for many years, with a shipment of our bookshelves!
We’ll need 150 bookshelves at $200 apiece for our various projects in 2027.
The supplies we need, in action!
Every student we reach receives a Chispa Project backpack filled with resources - colored pencil boxes, erasers, pencils, rulers, pencil sharpeners, etc., all of which support kiddos during the inauguration fair and after! The student on the left is using her new supplies to illustrate a post-reading reflection from her book, and the student on the right is participating in one of our inauguration fair activities! Using copies of the “How to Draw” book on our Amazon wishlist, she practices a drawing. And the Card Stock on our wishlist? That’s what we use for the passport that she’s holding! Every kid receives one to “travel through the world of literacy” during the inauguration fair.
We turn our square bookshelves into benches for the students, and we need tons of metal bench feet to make it happen! We also need the screws that keep everything in place.
Here you can see a kid using one of the bench bookshelves! And, he’s right next to an example of our custom bookshelf - a triangle frame with cloth slits and a cloth cover, and metal rods holding it all steady. We get these specially made from 3 Honduran artisans!
Take a look at our inventory set up! We put labels on the back, then scan them into our system. We need some new scanners this year, and the extension cords that make them work! We also can never get enough tape - we need different varieties for inventorying the books and for keeping the posters on the walls in the intense Honduran heat.
Another inauguration fair activity takes several supplies to bring to life. After reading a Honduran rendition of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” students make goat hand puppets! For this, we need the paper bags, googly eyes, wooden ice cream spoons, kids scissors, and a whole lot of glue!
After reading Chalk, an imaginative wordless story, students are then given the construction paper and chalk to make their own drawings. In the story, chalk drawings come to life, so the kids get to draw something they really want!
