Access to books is the #1 factor in improving outcomes for students in Honduras. Spark opportunity – give today!
Why give to Chispa Project?
Honduras is a book desert.
Most kids have never even held a children’s book. Schools are poorly funded and lacking in basic educational resources, let alone books. And, the average book costs over $20 - $30, making them a luxury that the 2/3 of families living in poverty can’t afford. The effects of this are devastating: 83% of 6th graders leave elementary school reading far below grade level, and even fewer develop functional literacy.
Your gift changes the story! With your support, we put books in the hands of kids by creating vibrant libraries in schools, and we educate teachers to maximize the use of the diverse books in their inventory.
Just one donation of $50 gives a kid in Honduras a library: their first books, 2 years of reading support, and a space to explore new worlds. Donate now to invest in literacy today and future prosperity.

What's the issue?
2 out of 3 Honduran families live in extreme poverty.
Books in Honduras are rare and expensive averaging $20 a piece.
No children’s books in schools or homes.
Lack of access to books leads to incredibly low reading abilities, and high drop-out rates.
How do books help?
The most powerful and highest-impact way to improve reading achievement is to increase access to books.
Through school and classroom libraries, Chispa provides a holistic program that trains teachers, parents, and students to integrate literacy techniques in daily classes and home life.
