We’re lighting a spark!

José Ángel Ulloa School has humble beginnings, but it shows us the true power of community-based initiatives. As a school on the outskirts of the Distrito Central (Central District) in Tegucigalpa, it serves students from some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. All classrooms were previously built from wooden slats, but by coming together as an educational community and strategically prioritizing initiatives for improvement, the school has recently finished construction on 3 fully brick-built spaces.

We know they’re the perfect school to collaborate with on a library installation because they’re go-getters, dedicated to improving the quality of education and the facilities in their school. Furthermore, teachers and parents have shown great enthusiasm, both during the project presentation and during various conversations needed to confirm a library project. The whole educational community recognizes the transformative impact a new library will have on each child in their school.
