First. Books. Ever!
This school is located on a fault line, so most of its classrooms are made of wood, a first for Chispa! The library, however, is in one of the only cinderblock buildings, protecting the books from the elements. This library, installed in February 2025, houses the first books that these students have ever had access to, and you can see the joy they found in exploring the new collection!
Community Comes Together
This school is eager to empower its students through this library project, fostering critical thinking skills that will allow them to develop their own opinions as they analyze the world around them and appreciate the cultural diversity that this community, this country, and this world have to offer.
Honoring Chortí Mayan Culture
This school is well organized, and serves families who often work as day laborers in construction, housekeeping or in the nearby landfill.
Our biggest library this year!
With 856 students, this will be the largest school we help this year in Comayagua, near the airport.
