Our biggest library yet!
Chispa Project works in Honduras to create children's libraries, and to date, we've brought 17,000 books to over 50 different schools and organizations. These are the students' first access to kids' books, which directly impact reading fluidity and comprehension.
This school is especially significant, as the project will impact over 800 students, and will be our biggest library created yet. Our goal is to put 1,300 new books in the hands of the students at Centro de Educación Básica Francisco Morazán in Northern Honduras. El Progreso is one of the many communities still recovering from Hurricane Mitch in 2008, and now struggles with massive immigration issues and students in high risk of being targeted in gang violence.
Help us make a big step in providing materials to help spark a desire of lifetime learning, good reading habits, and creative and critical thinking skills! Together we will write the next chapter, because books change the story.
Where does the money go?
100% of donations go to creating this library! Donations support 1,300 books in Spanish, bookshelves, decorations, paint, teacher training, parent workshops, and activities and crafts to introduce the students to the variety of books available in their new library.
The total value of this library is $10,550, and we are asking for your help in completing our goal with the last $4,000.
