For about five years, I've worked with adults from Central America to help improve their English. Through tutoring them, I've learned that individuals who learned to read in Spanish at an early age experience both personal and work-related advantages throughout their lives.
Having lived in Honduras many years ago, I feel a special connection to the country. Parents there have hopes, wishes, and dreams for their children just like any other parent. One of those dreams is for their children to learn to read.
I started sending Spanish language books to the Chispa Project two years ago. I've watched the non-profit grow and feel really good about supporting this effort.
